Winter Camp brings together talented high school players, college baseball coaches, and MLB instructors for a day of learning and competition. Winter Camp emphasizes the importance of higher education and helps provide opportunities for youth to maximize their potential in baseball and life.

Many professional baseball organizations and higher education institutions were represented at Winter Camp. Previous Winter Camps have featured coaches and instructors from colleges and MLB teams, including:

  • Concordia University Texas
  • Texas A&M Kingsville
  • Hendrix College
  • Huston-Tillotson University
  • Northeast Texas Comm. College
  • Wharton Junior College
  • East Texas Baptist University
  • Panola College
  • Seattle Mariners
  • Kansas City Royals
  • Cleveland Indians
  • Toronto Blue Jays
  • Houston Astros
  • Chicago Cubs
  • Milwaukee Brewers
  • Detroit Tigers
  • Philadelphia Phillies
  • New York Mets

Winter Camp includes defensive skills work, bullpens, 60-yard dash, hitting, live game scrimmage, and instruction on college readiness and career opportunities in baseball.

Winter Camp joins in the mission of many MLB RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) chapters and higher education institutions across the country who promote greater inclusion of minorities into the sport and help inner-city youth realize their dream of playing baseball and pursuing a college degree. Many great MLB players and leaders have come through RBI nationally (including C.C. Sabathia, James Loney, Carl Crawford, Coco Crisp, and Justin Upton), and we hope many of our Winter Camp participants follow in similar footsteps.
