Jr. RBI Closing Ceremonies + Triple-A for a Day on August 12th!
“Triple-A for a Day” Returns for Fifth Year
Express to bring Dell Diamond’s Game Atmosphere to Austin Baseball Nonprofit
ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express are once again teaming up with RBI Austin to bring Dell Diamond’s lively atmosphere to their 12U baseball and softball championships as part of the fifth annual “Triple-A for a Day” event. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, August 12.
New in 2017, the championship games will be held at North Austin Optimist. First pitch for the softball game is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and the baseball game is set for 7:30 p.m.
RBI Austin will recognize league MVPs and other award winners during Closing Ceremonies between the two contests. Triple-A for a Day is open to the public and free to attend. All are invited to enjoy the festivities.
“The efforts RBI Austin has made over the last five years to further engage inner-city youth through the games of baseball and softball and empower them to lead the transformation within their communities has been awe inspiring. With the game as their vehicle and mentorship as their passion, the RBI Austin team continues to create a lasting impact throughout our community. Needless to say, we are very proud to be part of it,” Round Rock Express General Manager Tim Jackson said.
Fans attending Triple-A for a Day will recognize many unique elements from Dell Diamond’s gameday atmosphere, including “the fastest chickens in Texas” racing in the Chicken Race, inflatables, prize giveaways and much more.
This year’s Triple-A for a Day event is included in the Covering Home initiative, a joint effort between the Express and the United Heritage Charity Foundation to give back to the community. Volunteers from both organizations will be on hand during the championship games. The Express aim to provide RBI Austin athletes, their families and the community with the opportunity to watch baseball in a fun and unique setting they would not normally experience.
“We are honored to continue our partnership with RBI Austin and the Triple-A for a Day program into a fifth season,” Jackson said. “We get to experience professional baseball every day, so to bring that atmosphere and excitement to RBI Austin athletes and families is special for us.”
