At RBI Austin, baseball is more than a game. Here, we strive to build character, nurture faith, and create lasting community through sport. The Olaizola family’s story is a powerful example of how that mission comes to life—on and off the field.

When the Olaizola family moved to Austin in February 2024, their goal was clear: to give their son, Sebastián, a future filled with opportunity and stability. Leaving behind their home and life in Mexico wasn’t easy but they moved forward with faith—the same faith that they found reflected in RBI Austin.

Sebastián was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and comes from a Venezuelan family. Baseball has been a part of his life since he was very young. He began playing formally at age 6 with the Toros de Zapopan, training daily, and attending high-level clinics. He even trained under standout players like Pedro Estévez in Mexico and Armando Galarraga here in Austin. His discipline was clear but what he needed most was a community that believed in him.

That community came through an invitation from the Nativita family, who introduced the Olaizolas to RBI Austin. What they found wasn’t just a team. It was a family. A place where values are lived out, faith is encouraged, and every child is seen as more than an athlete.

Since joining RBI, Sebastián has taken the field as a third baseman, pitcher, and catcher. But his most important growth has happened within. His parents describe him as more focused, more confident, and more spiritually grounded than ever before.

One of his proudest moments came when he was selected for the NAO All-Star team. That day, he says, was proof that his hard work and the encouragement of his coaches had paid off.

The Olaizolas dream of seeing Sebastián make it to the Major Leagues, but even more than that, they hope he becomes a young man with purpose. A leader. A light to others. At RBI Austin, that dream feels possible—not just because of the training, but because of the character formation happening every day, in every practice, devotional, and game.

Each season, RBI Austin walks with more than 1,600 young people like Sebastián, planting seeds of faith, community, and purpose. Thanks to the support of our volunteers and donors, we’re able to offer far more than a league. We offer a path forward. A place to grow, believe, and belong.

Unlike many traditional leagues, RBI Austin isn’t just focused on performance. Our mission is to support each child holistically: physically, emotionally, and spiritually. That mission made all the difference for the Olaizola family.

Our commitment to walking alongside every child beyond the game makes a difference. Our coaches model leadership. Our lessons build resilience. And our families gain a support system that extends well beyond the baseball diamond.

Mucho más que un juego: Cómo RBI Austin se convirtió en un nuevo comienzo para la familia Olaizola

En RBI Austin, el béisbol va más allá del juego. Aquí, formamos líderes, cultivamos la fe y construimos comunidad a través del deporte. La historia de la familia Olaizola es un ejemplo vivo de cómo nuestra misión transforma vidas, dentro y fuera del campo.

Cuando la familia Olaizola llegó a Austin en febrero del 2024, lo hicieron con una meta clara: ofrecerle a su hijo Sebastián un futuro con más estabilidad y oportunidades. Dejar atrás su hogar y vida en México no fue fácil, pero lo hicieron impulsados por la fe—la misma fe que encontraron reflejada en RBI Austin.

Sebastián nació en Guadalajara, Jalisco, y viene de una familia venezolana. El béisbol ha sido parte de su vida desde muy pequeño. Desde los 6 años entrenaba en la liga Toros de Zapopan, asistiendo a clínicas de alto nivel y aprendiendo de grandes peloteros como Pedro Estévez y, ya en Austin, Armando Galarraga. Su disciplina era evidente, pero necesitaba más que una cancha; necesitaba una comunidad que creyera en él.

Esa comunidad llegó gracias a una invitación de la familia Nativita, quienes los animaron a unirse a RBI Austin. Lo que encontraron no fue solo un equipo, sino un espacio donde los valores, la fe y el sentido de pertenencia se viven a diario.

Desde que se unió al programa, Sebastián ha brillado como tercera base, pitcher y catcher. Pero más allá del desempeño en el campo, sus padres han visto algo aún más valioso: su crecimiento interior. Hoy, Sebastián es más disciplinado, más resiliente y más seguro de sí mismo.

Uno de sus logros más significativos fue ser elegido para el equipo All Star de NAO. Para Sebastián, ese día fue una confirmación de que el trabajo constante y el apoyo de sus entrenadores estaban dando frutos.

La familia Olaizola sueña con ver a Sebastián llegar a las Grandes Ligas, pero aún más, desean que se convierta en un joven con propósito. En RBI Austin, ven ese sueño como posible—no solo por el entrenamiento, sino por la formación de carácter que reciben en cada práctica, devocional y juego.

Cada temporada, RBI Austin camina junto a 1.600 jóvenes como Sebastián, sembrando semillas de fe, comunidad y propósito. Gracias al apoyo de nuestros voluntarios y donantes, podemos seguir ofreciendo mucho más que una liga: ofrecemos un camino. Un lugar para crecer, creer y pertenecer.

A diferencia de otras ligas tradicionales, RBI Austin no solo se enfoca en el rendimiento. Nuestra misión es apoyar a cada niño en su desarrollo integral: físico, emocional y espiritual. Para los Olaizola, eso marcó la diferencia desde el primer día.
