Earlier this month, we caught up with RBI Austin alum and UTSA baseball player, Braylon Owens.
Braylon was recently drafted by the Brewers in the 10th round of the MLB draft, making him RBI Austin’s first MLB draft pick!
We were thrilled to have him stop by our Regional baseball team practice for a player Q&A and a sit-down interview prior to the draft. Here, Braylon shared how RBI Austin helped him grow and develop, what it’s like watching his brother (Jalen Owens) play for the same RBI baseball team, and more.
While reflecting on his time with RBI Austin, Braylon shared:
“RBI helped me as a player because you play a lot of good competition [at] the Regional. A lot of the guys we played were college athletes, [and I’ve] played a lot of those kids in college.”

Upon graduating from Elgin High School in 2021, Braylon began his collegiate baseball career as a pitcher for UTSA baseball.
“RBI Austin prepared me for the next level by helping me grow in my work ethic,” Braylon shared.
As he prepares to play for the pros, we can see the light and the example he has become for many of our aspiring young baseball players who look upon his success with admiration.

We were happy to learn that RBI Austin not only made Braylon want to be a better person and a better teammate, but also give back to his community like so many of our supporters do.
That’s the type of transformation we love to hear about!
