That’s a wrap!

untitled-3

The 2015 RBI Austin Summer Season has come to a close! It has been an incredible few months with thrilling games and many friendships formed between players, families, coaches, and volunteers.

Across our Jr. RBI (ages 4-12) and RBI (ages 13-18) divisions, we had a total of 656 kids playing on 47 teams led by 192 volunteers. This was our biggest summer yet, filled with lots of baseball, softball, and fun!

Jr. RBI Recap

Our 34 Jr. RBI teams enjoyed a fun summer of growing on and off the diamond. The season ended on Saturday, August 8th with six teams being crowned 2015 Jr. RBI Champions, capped of by our annual Triple-A For A Day festivities.

Make sure and check out our latest Facebook albums for photos of Triple-A For A Day, Jr. RBI Championship Games, and Team Photos.

Congrats to all the Jr. RBI kids and families for a wonderful year of baseball and softball! Huge thanks to the families and volunteers for your great encouragement and support this summer. Without y’all, none of this is possible!

We’ll be back in action with baseball and softball clinics in the spring! If you’re interested in your child playing baseball or softball this fall, check out these local leagues.

RBI Recap

Our 2015 RBI division (ages 13 – 18) consisted of 13 teams playing at eight local high school fields. Growing in skill, character, and forming lasting relationships, the summer season was a great success for our high school players.

On Saturday, July 18th, the RBI Austin 15U and 18U championship games were played at Concordia University’s Tornado Field for the first time. Coach Boggs and Concordia Baseball made it a wonderful and memorable experience for our players! Check out the RBI Championship photos here.

For the fourth consecutive year, RBI Austin’s 15U & 18U All Star teams competed in the RBI Southwest Regional tournament in Houston on July 23rd – 26th. Major League Baseball hosts the tournament every year with the regional champions earning a berth to the RBI World Series.

Since 2013, there have been more than 40 RBI players selected in the MLB Draft, more than half of whom have played in the RBI World Series. Last year, RBI Austin’s 15U team won the Regional, sending RBI Austin to its first ever RBI World Series.

This year, for the first time in RBI Austin history, both our 15U & 18U teams advanced to their respective RBI Southwest Regional championship games. Each team won pivotal games against tough New Orleans RBI squads to advance to the championship games.

After losing to Houston Astros RBI 4 – 3 in extra innings in pool play, our 18U team got another shot at Houston in the championship game, but fell 5-0. In a rematch of last year’s 15U Regional championship game, our 15U team played Houston Astros RBI in the championship game again this year, but lost 6 – 1.

While the cleats are hung up for the summer, many of our RBI players will be participating in our Player Development Programs this fall, seeking to grow in faith, life skills, and college readiness. For more information about PDP, please email daniel.reyna@rbiaustin.org.
