“RSR – What does it mean? I’ve been seeing RBI Austin jerseys with RSR on them.”
RSR stands for Roberta Sabin Recker, who is the beloved stepmother to Kristy and John Recker of RBI Austin.
Roberta passed away on February 5th of this year, and because of COVID-19, her celebration of life hasn’t taken place.
While we are waiting to be able to safely gather again, Roberta’s sister, friends, and colleagues, donated earmarked funds to outfit RBI Austin teams in RSR jerseys in her memory.
About Roberta
Roberta loved the law. She began her law career in Philadelphia at Morgan, Lewis and Bockius, and then moved to Indianapolis after marrying David Recker. She joined the law firm of Baker & Daniels in 1982 where she was a partner until 2015. Retirement was not in her blood, so in January of 2016, she joined Butler University as Senior Counsel.
During her time at Butler, she shared her expertise in employment law with the community and delighted in strategizing with colleagues across campus. She was known for educating about the law, while providing gentle, yet direct advice to campus clients. Roberta quickly became a trusted resource and confidant to many on campus.
Roberta was known by her friends and colleagues as a tough litigator with a heart of gold. Throughout her career, every client was treated with respect and she was generous with her kindness and knowledge of the law.
Next to her work as a skilled attorney, her great love was her pets. She rescued six Great Pyrenees dogs over the years and loved them dearly. Her charitable giving always included animal rescue and care organizations, as well as poverty reduction programs.
Roberta’s friends and colleagues wish RBI Austin a safe and successful season and hope all of you will wear your RSR jerseys with pride in remembrance of a wonderful woman who was deeply loved.
