Round Rock Express and RBI Austin Host Third Annual “Triple-A For A Day”

Express brings Dell Diamond Game Atmosphere to Austin Baseball Non-Profit

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express promotional staff has teamed up with RBI Austin for the third year in a row to bring a big league atmosphere to the RBI Austin 12U Baseball and Softball championship games. The two championship games will be held Saturday, August 8 at Downs Mabson Field, located at 2812 E. 12th St. Pregame ceremonies kick off the event at 5:45 p.m. followed by the softball final at 6:05 p.m. and the baseball championship game at 8:05 p.m. Fans are encouraged to stay between games for the 7:45 p.m. ceremonial presentations.

The Express will bring all the “good ol’ fashioned fun” fans expect at Dell Diamond to Downs Mabson Field. Pregame activities will include the RBI Austin Alumni recognition and a ceremonial first pitch by Olympian and four time All-American athlete, Cat Osterman. In-game entertainment will feature Dell Diamond staples such as Dizzy Bat, the Chicken Dance, and more over the course of the two championship games.

The Express hopes this game will provide RBI Austin athletes, their families, and the community with the opportunity to watch baseball in a fun and unique setting they would not normally experience.

“The opportunity to bring our brand of baseball to the backyards of RBI kids and their families has made this annual event one of the more heartfelt community initiatives for our staff,” said Express Assistant General Manager Tim Jackson. “Through both baseball and mentorship, the incredible growth of RBI Austin since its inception in 2011 is a true testament to the impact it has in the East Austin community. We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with RBI Austin and are proud to call Matt and his staff a part of our baseball family.”

The games will feature the 12 and under age division for both baseball and softball championships. Admission to the game is free.

Meet Desaray, Julian, and Patrick

Meet Desaray, Julian and Patrick!

This summer, we want to introduce you to some of the players, families, coaches, and volunteers who make up RBI Austin. Meet three of them here!

Meet Desaray!

In her first year of playing with RBI Austin, Desaray is on the 13U Softball Red Sox. She has a bubbly, outgoing personality and can strike up a conversation with any girl on the field, whether they are on her team or not!

Her hobbies outside of softball include playing other sports like volleyball, soccer, basketball, and kickball. And she loves eating pepperoni pizza!

“My coaches are awesome!” Desaray said. “They make our whole team laugh a lot. They encourage us and make us believe we can do anything. And they let us have fun every time we come out to a practice or game.”

RBI Austin loves when entire families get involved. Desaray has multiple family members playing in the league this summer. Her brothers Anthony and Adrian and her cousin Israel play on the 10U Kid Pitch Astros. Her other brother Johnathan plays for the T-ball Nationals.

Desaray’s favorite position to play is first base because she likes to get people out. She loves every opportunity that she gets to play the great game of softball!

We hope to see you and your family for many years, Desaray!

Meet Julian!

This is Julian’s first time playing with RBI Austin and he plays on the 12U Kid Pitch Longhorns. Julian says he enjoys playing with RBI Austin because “you get to try your hardest and have fun at the same time!”

His favorite position to play is right field. He loves chicken alfredo and pork chops, and he wants to be in the military when he grows up. He also plays soccer and can do some tricks, including juggling the ball on his head. His favorite MLB team is the Texas Rangers.

Meet Patrick!

Patrick is four years old and will start kindergarten in the fall at Kocurek Elementary.

This summer is Patrick’s first time playing baseball, and he loves it! He is on the T-Ball Aggies and had a game on Monday. Patrick had so much fun that he could not stop smiling!

In addition to baseball, Patrick enjoys playing outside with other kids. His favorite foods are yogurt and fries because they’re yummy!

His mother Jessica is volunteering with his team. She first heard about RBI Austin through Total City Sports (TCS), a sister organization and also part of the For the City Network. At TCS, Jessica volunteered as a team mom. When she heard about RBI Austin from another volunteer, she wanted to sign Patrick up for a fun summer of baseball.

“I love the atmosphere with RBI Austin. The interactions between parents, coaches, and players are awesome. When Patrick became old enough to play, I wanted to jump in and sign him up!” Carrillo said.

Patrick and Jessica – thanks for being a part of the RBI Austin family! We hope you have a fun summer!
